I have watched Gianfranco Zola all the years from his time in Napoli until now. We will miss his magic touch but above all, the superiority of the persobality of Gianfranco. The premier league looses one of the top players. Good luck in Cagliari. I will continue watching him. Nicos Kleftis Chelsea Fan since 1968.

Cheers Franco,
You were the first player i ever liked when following premier league, and the reason that i barracked for Chelsea. Why couldn't you have played for a more succesful team !!!! just kidding of course. Thanks for dazzling me in ways only sports people like Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Michael Schuemacher did - you truly are up there with the greats
all the best

The greatest player ever to wear the proud blue of CFC has left - the day I was dreading has occurrred. I feel like crying - gutted to think that Gianfranco has played his last game in blue in front of fans who have voted him the most loved Chelsea player ever.
I started supporting Chelsea in 1962 - and Zola is my fave player ever (in front of even Osgood, Tambling and Bonetti).
Sad as it is to see him go, he has left on an absolute high - the cameo of the final match of the Season against a demoralised and bewildered L'Pool is a wonderful way to remember the little man's skill, and his ability to mesmerise and torture an opposition defence.
Franco, you have been a great ambassador for Chelsea, for the Premier League as a whole and for your homeland. Thank you for the many memories - and the joy of seeing your goals. I was privileged to see just one when I flew in one time from Australia - against Sunderland at home on the first day of the season a couple of years ago. Taken with consumate skill, by an incomparable professional.
Thank you for everything - and for being such a fantastic role model for youngsters. Your example has been a shining light which others will, I hope, be keen to follow.
Good luck ... and Godspeed.

Franco,
It is impossible to find the right words when trying to describe how important you have been for our football club in recent years.
I hate to admit it, but when rumours started that Gullit wanted you I actually did not want you to sign. "Why do we have to sign another 30-year old Serie A player" was my first thought, but you were certainly worth the gamble. I think it took you 5 minutes of football to win me over and I have loved you ever since!
An amazing player and a perfect gentleman! Not many players are very popular outside their own club but I think that every single true football fan in England is sad to see you leave and thanks you for all the great moments. The goals against Norwich and Wimbledon along with all your free kicks will always be remembered and I will never forget that special day in Stockholm......
Thanks for everything, Franco, and good luck to you and your family in Sardinia.

I guess it's time to retire my Godzola 25 strip :( He shall be sorely missed, he was the quintessential gentleman of the game.

Gianfranco, When i heard the news that you had left Chelsea i felt a great sadness. The team and the fans all looked up to you. Chelsea will go on to bigger and better things, but it is such a shame that you will not be there to share in their success, considering that you have have made such a large contribution. We will miss you "magic" on the pitch. The Chelsea side has lost 2 good players in recent years, Luca Vialli and your self. I wish you all the luck in the world with you new team and I would like to take this opportunity to say a big THANK YOU,for all the pleasure you have brought to me and many other fans. You will be sadley missed.
Thank you
Ian

Zola, Even me in Uganda,(East Africa) have watched you play. But I am left to no imagination now that you are gone.I will never forget that goal that was concelled when we played against Man U. You first dodged the keepe r and from a tight angle you put it in!! I hate that referee. The day you visit Uganda, We will rejoice. Chelsea funs, lets tighten our belts. Looks like we are poised for the premiership title this coming season. Some one should carry me out of Uganda so that I come to Chelsea village and at the bridge. Am tired of staying only on the net. Raymond in Uganda

Gianfranco, we used to meet at Heathrow airport every friday prior Chelsea's games. I am half sardinian myself and my parents are friends of yours'.
As Ken Bates told me once. Zola is a true gentleman. And a great great player, I added.
Thanks for bringing your magic at CFC.

I'm a Cagliari's fan, but also a Gianfranco Zola's fun. He is a little big man even if he wasn't so lucky in Italy National Footbal Team ( 4' in the World Championship against Nigeria !) and I think He doesn't won like he could . Zola is big because he is not a star he is like you see him and he has values. I think he will make big my Cagliari , but it' s a pity for him not to play the Champions League with Chelsea. Even if I he choose Cagliari with heart , even if I'm a Cagliari fun , with my heart I feel for him that he should be a Chelsea soccer plaing Champions League . Excuse my English Enrico

I'm a Parma supporter, and I know exactly what the Chelsea's fans are thinking and I understand their sadness. Every week you knew you could see Gianfranco play like only he can do. And a bad day, you couldn't enjoy him anymore. But Gianfranco still play football and he still fun thousands of people and children with his feet. And it's beautiful. I trust in Saint Gianfranco from Oliena and I never forget his wizards.

Jussi July 09, 2003 at 10:59
With your skill, attitude and sportsmanship you are one of the greatest footballers that ever played in England. Unlike many of your colleagues you always put the success of the team first. You brought a glimpse Maradona´s virtuosity to the English game. Off the pitch you're a true gentleman and an example to the less refined young English footballers.
Thank you Gianfranco for seven wonderful years that will never be forgotten!

To all Chelsea's fans. The next year you'll find yourselves crying watching Gianfranco's goals and a day when you'll be alone in your home, you'll begin to sing..."GIAN FRAN COOO ZOOOOOLA LA LA LA LA LA,GIANFRANCO ZOLA LA LA LA LA LA". Don't worry, it's perfectly normal, I still lived these emotions and they never stopped

I want tribute Gianfranco with an episode, or maybe a novel. One day Gianfranco was training with Napoli and he saw Maradona making a lot of tricks with the ball. At the end of the training Gianfranco thought the ball, and thinking to be alone, repeated all the Maradona's tricks. Diego saw him, and probably scared went to him and said:"Ragazzo, Adesso ci sono io"( Boy, Now the field is mine). In the sence of not obscure his light, his mite. Gianfranco, the man who scared el Pibe :-)

he was the very best foreign player chelsea ever had since an italian keeper called Bonetti(i think, cant remeber that clearlyas i am only 16). I also agree with his decision to stay at Cagliari( or wotever) even under strong pressure from that russian git Roman, hu will dstroy chelseas beliefs if he buys Henry.

With a great sadness in my heart I would like to wish Franco all the best in the nearest future. It's sad to see you go, especially because if you would have waited 48 hours longer you would have gotten a contract.
Cheers old chap n gl in Italy
